Met Museum Visit

Saturday, March 3rd : Voluntary Seminary field-trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

We will be visiting the Ancient Near Eastern and Egyptian galleries in an effort to contextualize what we are learning in the Old Testament. One of the wonderful things about Old Testament study is that many of the historical and archaeological remains of the civilizations mentioned within it's pages have survived the millenia and can still be seen today.

We will meet at the Ferry at 9:15am for the 9:30am ferry to Manhattan. Parent's are of course welcome to attend.

Admission to the Met is "recommended" meaning that the admission fee is voluntary, though they strongly recommend that students pay an entrance fee of $12. There is also a cafeteria at the museum but it tends to be a bit pricey. If you are comfortable with street food there are generally food carts just outside the entrance, or as an alternative there are a McDonald's, Shake Shack and a Burger King within a few blocks of the museum as well. Students will be expected to cover the cost of their subway transportation, lunch, and whatever they feel comfortable with paying in admissions. We would like everyone to be able to attend who would like, so if cost is an issue please contact me and I will see what arrangements can be made.

The activity shouldn't last more than a few hours, though if the boys or you as parent's are interested, I am also willing (who am I kidding, would love) to give additional tours to some of the other highlights of the museum while we are there. If you are planning on attending please let me know (you can leave a comment below) so I can get a head count. As always, please contact me with any questions or concerns.
